For an $11,000 sports car, the E82 BMW 135i delivers a remarkably rich driving experience, though its hydraulic steering rack has a slower ratio and lighter weight than modern ultra-fast electric setups. Paired with a CAE short shifter, the cockpit setup creates a unique contrast: high-effort, ultra-notchy gear engagements balanced against smooth, effortless steering effort. It proves that budget analog BMWs still offer tactile engagement modern cars simply can't match. Watch the full 2008 BMW 1

For around $10,000 to $11,000, the 2008 BMW 135i makes a compelling case as the ultimate budget driver's car. Packing a twin-turbo N54 inline-six making 300 hp and paired with a 6-speed manual, it balances modern turbo punch with true hydraulic steering feedback. While its 3,400-lb curb weight is slightly heavier than its compact footprint suggests, swapping the factory open rear end for a Drexler 6-clutch limited-slip differential transforms this E82 into a focused, highly capable track weapon.

302bhp, xDrive, and over £7,000 worth of factory options… this isn’t your average 1 Series. 👀 Finished in the stunning Storm Bay, this 2022 BMW M135i comes loaded with some of the most desirable options you could ask for. The M135i Pro Pack, Technology Pack, Panoramic Glass Sunroof, Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound, Adaptive LED Headlights, Heated Steering Wheel, and Park Assistant make this hot hatch feel every bit as premium as it is fast.
