In 2021, the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) outlined a $6,6 miljard plan after WFP director David Beasley stated that 2% of Musk's wealth could help solve world hunger. Musk challenged the WFP to publicly explain exactly how the money would be spent on Twitter. Although the WFP provided a detailed proposal targeting 42 million people at risk of famine, Musk never finalized the stock sale or transferred the funds to the WFP.
