The Anaheim Ducks acquired veteran goaltender Ville Husso from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for future considerations on Monday. Adding a seasoned goaltender became necessary because Anaheim starter John Gibson was sidelined after suffering an injury in Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Bruins.

Verbeek then became a scout for the Red Wings. After working as a pro scout for four seasons, he left the Red Wings to join Yzerman’s staff with the Tampa Bay Lightning. When Yzerman became GM of the Red Wings, Verbeek came along. Now, he’s been the Ducks GM for just over two years.

The Detroit Red Wings freed up $3.6 million in salary cap space by trading goalie Ville Husso to the Anaheim Ducks on Monday. The Red Wings received future considerations in dealing the 30-year-old player who has spent a majority of this season in the minors.
