The highest snow accumulations are expected east of Lake Ontario, where some isolated areas could be hit by up to 60 inches of lake-effect snow by early next week.

Upstate New York was coated in feet of snow over the weekend, with some areas receiving more than 40 inches of the white stuff.

The Great Lakes region saw new snow Monday and faced the prospect of even more this week after U.S. travelers battled harsh weather to get home after Thanksgiving, forecasters said.
