Costa Rica, which has agreed to facilitate the transit of deportees, confirmed that its role is to “serve as a bridge” for migrants returning to their countries of origin. The Central American nation joins Panama and Guatemala in cooperating with the U.S. on this initiative.

Costa Rica plans to accept Indian and Central Asian migrants deported by the US. The migrants will stay in a detention center until their repatriation, fully funded by the US government, and supervised by the International Organization for Migration.
