Measles is continuing to spread across the Texas Panhandle and South Plains regions breaking 300 cases on Friday.
In 2026, there have been over 1,000 cases of measles. If vaccination rates keep dropping, the costs of medical care, public health efforts and lost work productivity could skyrocket.
22 new cases of measles have been confirmed in Texas. 146 cases have been detected since January in the state.
Measles outbreaks in close to half of U.S. states are responsible for over 900 confirmed cases in 2026, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
