BP CEO Murray Auchincloss is announcing plans to ditch the company's goal of growing renewable generation capacity 20-fold by 2030 and instead return focus to fossil fuels, Reuters reports. The goal measured growth from 2019 figures.

BP CEO Murray Auchincloss will tell investors the company is abandoning its target to grow renewable generation capacity 20-fold between 2019 and 2030 to 50 gigawatts.

BP is set to announce at the capital markets day that it is scaling back its 2030 renewables goal to 50GW instead of a 20-fold increase.

Indian state power company NTPC will invest more than 2 trillion rupees ($23.07 billion) on renewable energy projects in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, the company said on Monday.

The entire market capitalisation of the 20 renewable energy infrastructure funds (REIFs) listed in the UK has now fallen to just £10 billion. Over the last two years, existing investors have seen a terrible return on their capital, and hardly any new money has been raised as markets have questioned the economics of the REIFs.

Avaada Group has signed an MoU with the government of Madhya Pradesh, India for a Rs500bn investment in renewable energy capacity.
