NEW YORK (WABC) -- The most significant winter storm to hit the Tri-State area in almost four years ended on Saturday, with the heaviest snowfall north and east of New York City.
New Yorkers on Saturday woke up to the first major snowfall they’ve seen in nearly four years, with approximately 4.3 inches falling in Central Park.
Acting Governor Tahesha Way declared that New Jersey will enter a state of emergency at 1 p.m. today, Snow accumulations are expected to reach 5 to 8 inches in parts of the state, with temperatures remaining below freezing throughout the weekend. Executive Order No. 409 declares the State of Emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey.
A meteorologist warns that this week's freeze-thaw-refreeze pattern will create hazardous black ice just as the city prepares for New Year's celebrations.
