California Gov. Gavin Newsom adopted a new strategy to counter President Donald Trump: Talk just like him. The governor’s press account now writes posts exclusively in Trump’s style, including writing entire paragraphs in all caps and touting his own achievements.

In 2022, White pulled his record label, Third Man Records, off of X after the social media platform's owner, Elon Musk, allowed Trump to return to the social media platform. In 2016, Third Man sold T-shirts with the phrase, "Icky Trump," a reference to the White Stripes' 2007 album, "Icky Thump."
