Skilled Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) members and helpful ice climbers came to the rescue of a bull elk that had become entangled in climbing rope near ice walls in Lake City.

In early January, climbers saw a distressed bull elk caught in a climbing rope. The elk’s antlers were tangled in the rope as it was lying in the snow, unable to leave. After seeing the elk, the climbers called a Lake City wildlife officer, who called in for backup.
