A federal appeals court late Thursday paused a ruling that required President Donald Trump to return control of members of California’s National Guard to the state.
A federal judge ruled Trump’s deployment of the California National Guard during the ICE riots was illegal and ordered control returned to Governor Gavin Newsom.
A federal appeals panel will hear arguments Tuesday to determine whether President Trump or California Gov. Newsom will control the state’s National Guard. Trump’s decision to federalize the Guard was ruled unconstitutional by a judge last week.
