The jazz drummer Billy Hart said the decision was “evidently” connected to President Trump’s name being added to the arts center.

Jazz supergroup the Cookers, scheduled to perform two concerts at the Kennedy Center Wednesday as part of “A Jazz New Year’s Eve,” have canceled both shows, the band announced on Monday.

The last-minute cancellation follows the controversial Dec. 18 decision to rename the music, arts, and cultural institution to include President Trump.
