Bright orange flames tore through a historic 1830s church in Queens after a five-alarm fire spread from a vacant rectory, according to the Fire Department of New York.

The fire swept through the First Reformed Church of Astoria located on 12th St. near Astoria Blvd. in Astoria around 6:47 p.m., according to law enforcement.

Chopper 2 was over the blaze at the Reformed Church of Astoria on 12th Street, between Astoria Boulevard and 27th Avenue.
