METAIRIE, La. ( WGNO) — On Tuesday, Feb. 25, efforts to revitalize Metairie’s Fat City continued with the demolition of another building. Jefferson Parish officials gathered at the structure at 3800 Hessmer Avenue to kick off its demolition. According to the parish, the building posed a safety hazard to residents.
The project replaced wooden transmission structures inside a Jefferson Parish substation with single-pole steel structures rated for 150 mph wind speeds.
