By beating three-time world champion Kaori Sakamoto for the women's singles figure skating gold medal at the Asian Winter Games in China on Thursday, South Korean teenager Kim Chae-yeon left many people surprised and stunned -- including herself.

Kim Chae-yeon of South Korea won the Four Continents figure skating competition with a near-flawless free skate to prevent an American sweep of the podium.

Though the 32-year-old, Beijing Winter Olympics gold medalist was not competing, his presence was still felt. Han served as a guardian of the national flag during the opening ceremony, watched the Chinese team competing at short-track speed skating events, and participated in a range of activities promoting sportsmanship.
