Lindsey Vonn finished in 24th place in the first of two lower-level super-G races as the 40-year-old dials in her equipment and technique during her comeback to ski racing.

The 40-year-old finished the first Super-G race in 24th place, 2.19 seconds adrift compatriot Lauren Macuga, who was the fastest down the piste with a time of 1:11.90. In the second race, Vonn improved her position finishing 2.06s behind Macuga.

After nearly six years away from ski racing and only an abbreviated prep period, Lindsey Vonn told The Associated Press she is encouraged by how close she is to being competitive.
