Depression Chantal continues to move across southern and eastern Virginia, bringing flash flood threats to the area, the National Hurricane Center said.

Tropical Storm Chantal is now a tropical depression, according to the National Hurricane Center on Sunday, July 6.

The system made landfall near Litchfield Beach at about 4 a.m. ET on Sunday, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Tropical storm warnings were canceled for portions of the two Carolinas, but heavy rain was forecast for the region through Monday.
