Punjab Kings, armed with the largest IPL 2025 budget, secured batter Shreyas Iyer for a record-breaking Rs 26.75 crore. Bolstering their squad, PBKS acquired Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal for Rs 18 crore each.

Punjab Kings had only retained two players ahead of the auction and both of them were uncapped. In the run up to the auction, the Punjab franchise also brought in Ricky Ponting as their head coach. In the auction, they have tried to buy some good Indian players alongside trusted overseas names.

PBKS squad in IPL 2025: Punjab Kings bought a total of 10 players on day 1 of IPL Auction, with former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer as their top pick, making him second most expensive player in IPL auction history. PBKS also added leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to their squad and used the Right-to-Match option to retain Arshdeep Singh.
