OPEC has withdrawn from the oral statement portion of The International Court of Justice's advisory opinion on the Obligations of States in respect of Climate Change.

The current United Nations framework for fighting climate change should be preserved, the United States told the International Court of Justice, which is working on drafting fresh global legal guidelines.

Officials from almost 100 countries are at the International Court of Justice in the Netherlands, asking the court to issue an opinion on the responsibility of certain nations to protect the planet from climate change.
