Strong winds and waves from Hurricane Erin have battered Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard as dangerous rip currents continue to threaten from the Carolinas to New England.
The 63rd annual East Coast Surfing Championships resumed Friday in Virginia Beach, drawing surfers from around the world. This year, participants got to enjoy larger than normal waves because of Hurricane Erin.
The small shark was tossed back in the bay, but returned a second time and “kept swimming around and hanging out with us” near the bar's host stand.
Hurricane Erin is entering the first stages of a post-tropical transition as it continues to move away from the eastern coast of the United States.
