The Roku Channel, one of the best free streaming services, is already available on Google TV, but this new update adds a number of new improvements that are meant to make using it a more seamless experience on Google TV. As of September 2024, Google TV and Android TV have over 270 million monthly active devices.

Over the next few weeks, Roku and Google will be improving the Roku Channel experience to make it much easier to find things you'll want to watch, while significantly upgrading your Google TV experience.

Roku and Google are joining forces to bring a deeper integration of The Roku Channel with the Google TV platform.

Google TV users are getting a bunch of Roku-related goodies this week, such as search integration and a whole lotta content. If you were somehow thinking you needed more stuff to watch on Google TV, this news should help with that.

In a blog post on the Roku website on Monday, the company announced that the Roku Channel will be available as part of Google TV "in the coming weeks." What this means for you is more free content for streaming through Google TV, and it will be a whole lot easier to find.

Google TV will make Roku Channel content more discoverable with easier search functions. Over 80,000 free movies and TV shows available on Roku app will now be more accessible on Google TV. Roku's 500 free ad-supported (FAST) channels will now appear in Google TV's live tab.

Roku is making it easier to find and watch its programming on Google TV without jumping between apps. Users can soon search for content from The Roku Channel — Roku’s free streaming app — directly on Google TV, providing quick access to Roku’s library of over 80,000 movies and TV shows.

Users should soon be able to search for The Roku Channel content and see recommendations directly on Google TV. Users can expect over 500 free FAST channels from The Roku Channel to be added to Google TV's Live tab.
