President Donald Trump said he plans to revoke Chevron Corp.’s oil license to operate in Venezuela, threatening to torpedo the nation’s slow economic recovery.

María Corina Machado, the most prominent figure in the country’s opposition movement, argued the measures are needed to stop government repression.

The move appears to end the U.S. company’s work in the oil-rich country and was prompted by what President Trump said was strongman Nicolás Maduro’s failure to accept deportees.
