U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he was reversing a license given to Chevron to operate in Venezuela by his predecessor Joe Biden more than two years ago, accusing President Nicolas Maduro of not making progress on electoral reforms and migrant returns.

The move appears to end the U.S. company’s work in the oil-rich country and was prompted by what President Trump said was strongman Nicolás Maduro’s failure to accept deportees.

The US president cited Venezuela's “electoral conditions” as a reason, adding that the regime hasn’t taken back “violent criminals” at a fast-enough pace.
