Monster Hunter, the Milla Jovovich feature based on the video game series of the same name, was pulled from theaters in China on Friday after backlash over a scene perceived as racist.
But it remains unclear if the movie would then be re-released into local cinemas. Monster Hunter had limited sneaks on Thursday (December 3) in China before going wide yesterday.
“Monster Hunter” grossed just $4.8 million on its one day of release before it was pulled — a far cry from the $160 million earned by director Paul W.S. Anderson ‘s last China outing.
