Members of NYU’s Student Government Assembly criticized administrators’ decision to cancel affinity graduations during an open discussion at the group’s Thursday meeting. They also heard concerns regarding international students’ safety after federal immigration agents detained a Columbia University student on campus that morning.

A Columbia University student was detained by agents from the Department of Homeland Security at a campus building Thursday morning, the university said.

Gov. Kathy Hochul mentioned the alleged incident this morning, saying the details were still unclear.
