Rain, thunderstorms, heavy snow, freezing rain and ice. They’re all on Mother Nature’s menu starting tonight as a big storm system moves in and overspreads Michigan into Wednesday. This is forecast to be a “split storm” with the northern part of the state getting snow and ice,

Another 1 to 5 inches of snow is expected Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning. Weather service officials said they expect the greatest snow totals in places like Grand Marais and Newberry in the eastern half.

The overall weather pattern should bring several fast-moving storm systems across the Great Lakes region over the next two weeks. Much of the data shows Michigan will get some snow out of these weather systems.
