The Knox County Health Department has detected West Nile Virus in mosquitoes in Knox County, and is taking steps to reduce the population of mosquitoes by spraying for them.

Vanderburgh County has joined the list of local Indiana communities reporting the West Nile virus in mosquitoes.

Mosquito control spraying in North Knoxville will start Aug. 14 and will occur between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., weather permitting. Residents are encouraged to stay inside during this time, and pets can come inside or be kept in the backyard.
