RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Five Virginia ticket holders each won $50,000 following Wednesday evening’s Powerball drawing. On Thursday, Dec. 18, Virginia Lottery officials announced that the winnings were purchased at the following five locations: The five tickets each matched four of the first five winning numbers plus the Powerball number.
A Virginia lottery player is now a millionaire after matching all five white balls in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.
The Virginia Lottery confirmed that more than 87,000 tickets purchased in the Commonwealth won some type of prize in Wednesday’s draw, ranging from $4 to $50,000. The odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25, while the odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
