Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and allies have signed a charter that paved the way for the establishment of a parallel government, as Sudan's army made advances recently against the rival groups.

The charter states creating a government of ‘peace and unity’ despite concerns from rights groups and global actors.

Omer Aldigair, head of the Sudanese Congress Party (SCoP), accused domestic and foreign entities of pushing for the formation of a parallel government in Sudan. He warned against underestimating the seriousness of this initiative and the risk it poses to the country’s unity.
