Indian passengers faced a harrowing ordeal, stranded for over 13 hours at Kuwait Airport after their Gulf Air flight made an emergency landing due to an engine fire, leading to allegations of discrimination and neglect.

A Mumbai to Manchester Gulf Air flight, carrying about 60 Indian passengers, departed from Kuwait after being diverted due to a technical issue. The flight had been stranded since December 1, and many other passengers were able to leave the airport on visas-on-arrival.

The Indian embassy in Kuwait said on Sunday in a post on X that they immediately took up the matter with Gulf Air and also clarified the visa rule in Kuwait for Indians.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait said that it had taken up the matter immediately with Gulf Air, and a team from the embassy was present at the airport to assist the passengers.

The passengers, travelling on Gulf Air flight GF 005 from Mumbai to Manchester, complained of facing discomfort as the airline failed to provide food, accommodation, or basic assistance during their extended wait.
