Post-Thanksgiving travel will be treacherous in parts of the Great Lakes region on Sunday due to several feet of lake-effect snow, while biting cold temperatures sweep across a large swath of the United States.

After U.S. travelers battled through harsh weekend weather to reach home following the Thanksgiving holiday, residents of the Great Lakes region face the prospect of more snow through the week, forecasters said.

States braced for more whiteout conditions in the coming days as a lake-effect storm dropped several feet of snow in parts of the region by the early weekend.
