The FAA late Wednesday lifted the order that would have cut more flights at busy airports. “We are eager to resume normal operations over the next few days," said an airline trade group.
The travel turnaround is in effect at Logan Airport, ahead of the Federal Aviation Administration rolling back flight restrictions after a week of travel nightmares.
FAA officials said flight reductions at 40 airports will be scaled back to 3% on Nov. 15 as air traffic controller staffing improves after the government shutdown ended.
Officials pointed to “rapid decline in controller callouts” after disruptions intensified pressure to end the shutdown.
