European Union leaders have agreed to provide Ukraine with a massive interest-free loan to meet its military and economic needs for the next two years
European Union countries have agreed to allocate 90 billion euros ($105.5 billion) in aid to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, the EU Council President said on Friday.
The European Union came up with an 11th-hour deal to help Ukraine, but the solution raised questions about the bloc’s decisiveness.
European Council meetings are rarely nerve-racking, but the one that took place on 18th-19th December broke the mold. Two topics were at the top of the agenda: a long-awaited free-trade agreement with the Mercosur economies and a loan to Ukraine using Russia’s EU-held immobilised central bank reserves.
