A small 3.0-magnitude earthquake was felt near New York City on Saturday night but left no reports of injuries or structural damage.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — A small earthquake in New Jersey rattled the New York City metropolitan area Saturday night. The U.S. Geological Survey said the tremor had a magnitude of 3.0. It hit in the New Jersey suburb of Hasbrouck Heights, less than 8 miles west of Central Park, at a depth of about 6.2 miles (10 kilometers).

The quake's epicenter was in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. No injuries or structural damage was reported shortly afterward, said Jonathan Tytell, a geophysicist at the USGS.
