According to CBS News transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave, DFW averages 1,800 flights per day and Love Field averages 200 flights per day. A 10% cut means the airports could lose a combined 200 flights per day by next week.
DFW and Love Field are among the 40 airports in "high-volume" markets whose air traffic will be reduced by 10%.
The FAA said it was reducing traffic by 10% in 40 "high volume" areas on Friday to maintain safety, as air traffic controllers show signs of burnout during the current U.S. government shutdown. The cuts represent approximately 1,800 flights from about two dozen states, carrying about 270,000 passengers.
