The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission met Wednesday and among the many topics discussed was the ongoing gray wolf reintroduction program and the upcoming release of 15 more wolves into Colorado this month.

The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission voted 10 - 1 to continue wolf reintroduction in the state. Last year, a petition was filed asking CPW to stop releasing wolves until several changes are made.

The CPW Commission held a meeting Wednesday evening, in it they voted 10-1 to adopt the staff’s recommendation to deny a citizen petition requesting to delay wolf restoration.

Colorado’s wolf reintroduction effort will continue as planned. At its Wednesday meeting, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission officially voted to deny a citizen petition requesting a pause of the initiative.

On Wednesday, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Commission rejected a livestock industry petition to pause the historic, voter-approved reintroduction of gray wolves in the state. Ranchers and ag producers have already submitted loss requests to the state of more than half a million dollars, exceeding the budgeted loss estimate.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission will hold meetings about potentially pausing or changing the wolf reintroduction program.
