Police have identified the drowning victim whose body was recovered from Blackridge Reservoir late Saturday night.

Deng Mayar, 22, had recently arrived at the University of Omaha and was making "tremendous progress" before the fatal swimming accident in Utah.

According to the Herriman Police Department, Mayar was swimming with his friend, Sa Mafutaga, when they both began to struggle in the water just before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Mafutaga, 21, made it to shore, but reentered the reservoir when he saw Mayar still in the water.
